Area activities

Pembrokeshire boasts a wide range of things to do, see and experience. The magnificent coastline can be walked throughout the year and boasts a myriad of wild flowers, seabirds and scenery which is quite special. The sunsets are a joy to behold.

For the more active there is a wide range of water-sports, golf, horse-riding, trekking, sailing, surfing etc. There are castles to explore, churches to see and we must not forget the Cathedral at Britains smallest city - St Davids, which is well worth a short pilgrimage.

Inland there are the Preseli hills, the origin of the bluestones of Stonehenge. The whole area is rife with tales of long ago, old beliefs, adventures and so on. Ask the locals, they'll tell you.

The tranquil & picturesque village of Nevern is ideal for fishing with the River Nevern opposite the hotel, rambling, sightseeing or just relaxing whichever mood takes you. Even shopping for arts & crafts at the nearby towns of Newport, Cardigan and Fishguard, all within a short drive.

The nearby historical 11th Century Church and Celtic Cross with its world famous 'Bleeding Yew Tree' in the graveyard. Also the 6th Century Pilgrims Cross and 12th Century Nevern Castle is a must for sightseers as the archaeologists from Durham University have unearthed the Castle Tower and found historical artefacts. The burial grounds at Brynberian are of great interest as is the Iron Age Village reconstruction of the original site at Castell Henllys.

There are many country walks, with the recently opened Nevern Historical Walk, a great favourite with ramblers.

With a host of other activities such as watersports, horse-riding, golf etc. within 2 miles of The Trewern Arms Inn in North Pembrokeshire, it makes an ideal get-away-from-it-all centre.

The room was large and clean, and the en-suite bathroom well equipped. Although the restaurant was not open when we stayed, the bar did offer fairly good quality pub food and the service was quick and friendly.

Rooms large & comfortable with tea and coffee facilities, ensuite bathroom and freeview TV viewable from in bed! Cooked breakfast every day, the managers of the Trewern Arms went out of their way to make us welcome. They even helped us out when our car broke down and took us to our cousins wedding and picked us up afterwards and refused any payment. Would recommend the Trewern Arms for any one who wants a quiet location away from it all in the heart of the Pembrokeshire country side with the river running by right outside but with in a short drive to Newport and the long sandy beaches near by and also Cardigan for busier town shopping.

Pros:

Rooms large & comfortable

Cons:

None
